Chapter 3. Plant Explorer and Engineering Workplaceadminbk
3.1. Its objectives
Upon completing this chapter, you’ll be able to:
- Describes the common structure in Aspect Directory
- Navigating in the Plant Explorer
- Define / configure the aspect and object
- Using the same object in different structures
3.2. Plant Explorer / Engineering Workplace
Plant Explorer / Engineering Workplace is the main tool used to configure System 800xA as well as all project work is done by the application engineer.
The project will exist in platform integration (Aspect Intergrator Platform) but its controls will be used to configure the Control Builder.
3.2.1. What is the system?
A system is a collection of programs and services are running together to support HSI. At least there will be a server and a server Aspect make system connectivity.
3.2.2. What is the Workplace?
This is the working environment for a specific group of people who may want to access the system. In a new system is installed, there are 4 default workplace provided, for many different users
- Engineering Workplace
- Operator Workplace
- Plant Explorer Workplace
- Two Screen Plant Explorer Workplace
In systems with applications in the mining industry, there are specific workplace provided
- BMI ControlIT Cement (for operation)
- BMI Dual Head
- BMI Single Head
The main difference between Plant Explorer and Engineering Workplace Workplace is a new Workplace Engineering only allows you to use tools like the design function (Function Designer) and Data Manager Bulk (Bulk Data Manager).
To get Engineering Workplace, extension system, Engineering Base should be installed.
Mining applications without Engineering Workplace. The data processing is done with a series of tools PDA (Plant Design and Allocation) connected with Plant Explorer Workplace and Control Builder M.
3.2.3. How to start a Workplace
Japan may launch a Workplace by right clicking on the icon “My ePlant” on the desktop and select the desired Workplace.

Workplace login screen has two menus:
- Window choose “System”
- Selection window “Available Workplace”
In a typical mill will have a “system” is available. This will be a system built for the application.
3.2.4. Browse Aspect Directory
Plant Explorer for browsing and navigating in Aspect Directory, used to create and manage Aspect Object.
Plant Explorer builds on the concept of Windows Explorer. When viewing a structure, the object in the left pane (left pane) and aspect of the object selected will be displayed in the right pane (right pane).
Aspect Object concept allows organize objects (Object) and attributes (Aspect) into different structures, depending on the context of what would be considered. The structure is the graphic image of the relationships that exist between the different objects aspect.
Plant Explorer held into the 800xA system structure can be accessed from the pull-down menu in the upper left window.
Default has 19 structures. In which at least five structures used to model your physical plant or commonly used in the operation. The use of this structure will vary depending on the system depending on the needs of users configure and use the system.
Most of the time we only use a few structures, namely:
- Control Structure
- Functional Structure
- Location Structure

By right clicking on the object (right-clicking on an object), the corresponding property will appear. Each object (object) is available on a number of attributes (aspect), the different attributes for different objects.
3.3. The structure is often used
This is the main application structure of System 800xA. These structures is the main structure, because it is thought that most of the applications engineer will perform most of their work in these structures.
3.3.1. Functional structure (Functional Structure)

3.3.2. Control Structure

This structure contains the control network, project controls, applications, controllers, workstations, object types different side (such as I / O and processing objects, as well as signals assigned to those different objects in this structure).
3.3.3. Location Structure
Location Structure (optional) is provided to help users determine the geographic location or the location of objects in the plant. This structure must be built with the knowledge of the building, rooms and location exists on the premises of the plant.
3.3.4. Library Structure
Library Structure is used to classify and store the entity can reuse.
It contains all kinds of objects library and its version. The object types of these libraries are stored in the structure of the object type (Object Type Structure).
It contains the template for the type of object such as Alarm and Event configuration, history log and Trend.
3.3.5. Object Type Structure
Almost every aspect of the object that represents an Object Type (type of object). The aim is to be able to create and use effective solutions standardized for repeat problems.
An example would be a control valve. Instead of creating a new and unique Aspect Object for each valve in your plant, it is more efficient to create a few valves. When you need a specific solution, you will use one of the type of object you’ve created previously for this case.
When you use a certain type of object, the attributes (aspect) is predetermined for the type of object that will automatically be generated and associated with the new data.
3.4. The structure used for the Administration (Structures used for Administration)
3.4.1. User Structure
User Structure keep users and user groups are identified are allowed to work in the system. You define user roles in the Configuration Wizard.
All users must have Windows user accounts involved. User attributes mainly contains information about users and what users are allowed to do in the system (the role of the user).
3.4.2. Workplace Structure
Workplace Structure is used to identify and create the layout of the screen for user interface with the system. This includes work for the operation, maintenance, management, etc.
3.4.3. Service Structure
Service Structure hold services, service groups and the relationship between the services identified in a system.
3.4.4. Maintenance Structure
Maintenance Structure is used to identify and implement operational backup (Backup), versions of the system configuration, synchronization.
3.4.5. Additional Structure
Other structures that contain important information or may need to be configured once the system include:

You can navigate from one structure to another structure easily, if the same object is used in a number of structures.
Just click on the Structure Aspect and it will lead you to where the object of other structures.
3.5. Work with Object and Aspect
3.5.1. Create more Object
To create additional object in the structure, right-click on the structure and select “New Object”.
Select the Object type, name and choose “Create”. Note This name must be unique, does not coincide with the names available on your system.
New object will appear in the structure at the level where it was created. In this case, new objects have been added to the root of the structure. Any default properties that are part of this type of object will automatically appear in the list of attributes (aspect).
3.5.2. Create more Aspect
Create additional attributes (aspect) for an object, select the object then right click on the object and choose “New Aspect”.

The main interface of this new property can be seen displayed in the preview pane. Users can switch the preview pane (viewable or not) as desired.
3.5.3. Aspect default an Object
Each object (object) with an attribute (aspect) default. Default properties will automatically be displayed in the preview pane when working with objects in Plant Explorer.
In the context menu (right-click), the default attribute displayed at the top of the menu with bold letters.
We can install an attribute (aspect) as the default attributes (aspect default) for an object as follows:
1) Right click on the desired properties.
2) Select “Properties”.
3) Select the tab “Aspect Details” and select “Default aspect” as shown below.
4) Click the “Apply” or “OK”.
Alarm and Event List is set as the default attributes of objects Reactor_11. If another property is set as the default, it will become the default property of the object. In other words, the property is installed as the default eventually it will be the default attributes of the object.
3.5.4. Inherits attribute (Aspect Inheritance)
Some properties can not be modified because these properties are inherited from the structure type (Object Type Structure). Note that the columns inherit (inherited) This value is set to “True”.
To change the attributes need to change legacy.
After selecting “Override,” the value in column inherit (inherited) will be changed to “False” and this time we can modify this attribute.
Note: To inherit from object structures, just select “Delete Override” in the context menu.
3.5.5. How to insert Aspect Object on other structures
One of the time-saving features of Aspect Object technology, is the ability to re-use objects in other structures. Previously you might have created Aspect Object and identify necessary aspect to it. Now you need to use an object in such a different structure.
This means you can determine the characteristics of the object (the aspect) once and use that object whenever necessary.
In the following example, we navigate to the root of the structure function (Functional Structure).
1) Right-click (Right-click) on the “Root”.
2) Select the “Insert Object”.
3) From the pull-down menu, find and select the structure with the desired object.
4) Select the desired object and select “Insert”, “Close”.
5) Subjects Reactor_11 (whole aspect) will become an object of functional structure (Functional Structure).
3.6. Search engines (the Find Tool)
Search engines (the Find Tool) provides quick access to a particular object attribute or by clicking on the icon below:
In the search engine, enter the name of an object or the path to an object of search criteria and then search for the object you are looking for. It can also identify aspect.
Note: If you are not sure about the name of the search object. Use the character “*” to replace one or more characters; a “?” to substitute for any one character.
Search queries (find queries) were identified in the area looking for the query definition (Find Query Definition) in the search engine (the Find Tool). This is the area the user interface and input of the Find dialog box.
3.6.1. Find properties (Find Attribute)
Search queries can be defined in more detail by using the additional search attributes.
In this example, you can specify to search in any structure.
3.6.2. Search engines quickly (Quick Find Tool)
Navigate to the directory in Plant Explorer is done by browsing through structures and trees. Another way is to use the Quick Search tool to quickly access an object.
Quick search of objects whose name has been entered or selected in the list. If an object is found, it will be selected in the list and in the Browser (Object Browser).
Note: You can not search the aspect with this tool.
3.7. Search engines Mineral Library
